Grants and funding*

http://www.disability.gov/groups/Benefits/Are+there+any+grants+available+for+disabled+persons%3F?id=91

Try this, there are organizations listed for housing, info on grants to pay off debts (none, but some alternatives and the Replies came from the DGovTeam staff (if they don't know who does).

The Ticket to Work Program may be a good option, their goal is to help you reach your goals...want to be an attorney...entrepreneur skills (secure funding)...work for the state or federal government...whatever your goal. Also, there are guidelines so you retain your benefits, if you can't continue working or it just becomes too much. There are vocational rehabilitation opportunities; it provides the means for your success. Check it out.

FYI: It is very, darn near impossible to find grants or assistance for an individual not associated with some organization or non-profit. Limit your search to local, state & federal social service, non-profits or organizations to secure grants or other funding, be specific about your needs.

Good Luck!

HELP!!!

You have a rough situation and must be creative, non-traditional, & persistent. For immediate help consider service postions landscaping, maid, server, etc...this will get you started & give you some cash for your next stage.

Entrepreneurial endeavors such as messenger service, clerical, office work, typing, errand runner, temp work, etc... There will be no background checks involved (check legally to make sure about disclosure). You can start with one and add others to create your own business profile. Now the next step.

Education, increases your credibility and earning potential & will support your business decisions...plenty of funding available...take courses (baby steps) & then pursue a degree program...start where you left off ...keep pride in your sock drawer...pray for a better situation in the future and reach out for help.

Remember, Life is a journey not a destination.
Good Luck!

Need Financial Help Badly!!!

Try the Department of Social Services in your area and request medical assistance (they will pay for bills made 90 days prior to application date); In addition, Food Stamps & emergency cash assistance. You are not on any type of welfare programs just assistance to help a little bit.

These resources may help:

Community Action Network (Can) - Look in your area
Catholic Charities
Local Churches

I hope this helps.

About Soltis46

I am a 46 year old advocate by nature, the complications in everything has become too complex.  In some instances even the staff is clueless…your given outdated or inaccurate information, where details make the difference.  The whole concept of people oriented/social service organizations has been corrupted by short-sighted individuals, who don’t like or their jobs or respect (the people they serve).

While reading various blogs/websites/personal tales & speaking to others a common theme emerges…most of the situations could have been avoided had the correct action been taken initially, when requested by the individual.  Yeah, I am angry & want to reenter the workforce, not to take on big brother…lol, but initiate actions by the very people these organizations were implemented to serve and get a singular voice (combined actions to address the real issues) for us.

Why are all the GrassRoot organizations operating individually…I have a lot of questions and even more determination to confront this issue.  Grants…why are they given to organizations and then funds are hoarded with unrealistic requirements…contact information so obscure, this phone tree nonsense for people oriented programs…most organizations enacted to support the local & state level offices who rely on the federal government guidelines (which are interpreted by some educated dummies…causing total restructuring of office practices because Jane has made Bob mad and by manipulating regulations Bob has destroyed Jane’s efforts…some questions, huh.

Enough venting, I think you get the idea.  Oh yeah, I have major almost crippling financial problems, disability does not provide enough funding for real living, long-term disabilities I have learned to accept and changed my life to accommodate (it stinks) and always say my favorite quote, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get".  Run, Forest, Run.  cheeky
